Andrew Tribute

Andrew Tribute is Managing Partner of Attributes Associates, a specialist consultancy organization for these industries. He is also a visiting professor at University of the Arts, London. He has been in the printing and publishing industry since completing a Degree in Printing Management in 1964 at the London College of Printing (now the London College of Communications, a member college of University of the Arts, London). Following a short period working in a management role in the printing industry, He has specialised in the application of computers in printing and publishing since 1968. In that time he has worked for both users and vendors of systems in various roles.
In 1984 he established Attributes, a specialist consultancy company in the application of computers in printing and publishing areas. He also worked with Seybold Publications from October 1985 until September 2000 as its International Editor. He is still a member of the Seybold Publications Editorial Board. In addition to his consulting operations, he also writes a monthly syndicated column that is published by many of the key international printing magazines throughout the world. In the USA he writes a weekly column published under the heading “Tribute’s Tuesday” by whattheythink.com the leading online publication for developments within the printing and publishing markets.

 

Andrew Brown

Andrew Brown is Corporate Affairs Director of BPIF, a post he has held since 1 April 2006. He is responsible for the BPIF’s relations with Government, trades unions, and other industry bodies and external organisations, industry policy and representation, marketing and communications, information and statistics, as well as the BPIF’s internal HR function. Andrew first joined BPIF in January 1981, and has been a Director of BPIF since 1989. Previous positions in this capacity have included responsibility for employment affairs, commercial products, and strategic partnerships. He has successfully developed and managed a number of major initiatives including: establishing the Printing Industry Pension Scheme (PIPS), of which he remains a Director; securing funding for and establishing the UK printing industry forum (Vision in Print); project managing the BPIF-Unite Partnership at Work Initiative launched in 2005; and negotiating the BPIF’s association management contract with the BOSS Federation. A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development with a Masters Degree in Manpower Studies, Andrew has worked in the fields of people management and trade association affairs for over a quarter of a century. He is 56, married with one child, and lives in London.

 

Barry McIlheney

Following a brief spell in local newspapers, Barry started his magazine career on IPC's Melody Maker before being appointed Editor of emap's flagship pop title Smash Hits in 1986. During his time in charge, Smash Hits went on to sell more than one million copies per fortnight. In 1989, Barry became launch Editor of Empire, still the biggest-selling film magazine in the world. Three years later he was appointed Publishing Director of emap's music and film titles, and in 1994 was promoted to Managing Director of emap metro, the company's London lifestyle division. In 1999, Barry led the launch of heat magazine, and later that year moved to Paris to oversee the launch of FHM France. He returned to the UK in 2000 as Chief Executive of emap elan, the company's women's magazine division. In 2003, Barry became Editor-in-Chief of emap consumer media, leading the launch of Zoo Weekly in the UK, Australia, and South Africa. During this time, he also worked alongside Mo Mowlam MP in the bid for a new radio franchise in his native Belfast. Barry left emap in 2007, and since that point has been working as a writer and consultant, working for magazines and companies such as Radio Times, The Word, Bauer Consumer Media, Haymarket Network, Sport Media Group, Attic Media Network, and John Brown Media. He was recently appointed a Fellow in the Creative Arts at Queen's University Belfast, and is also a visiting lecturer in magazines at the University of Lincoln. He lives in North London with his wife, journalist Lola Borg, and their two teenage children. Away from work, he enjoys going to football, watching TV, reading books and magazines, seeing movies and plays, listening to music, and walking his dog.

 

Jaspar Scott

Jasper Scott is Manufacturing Director of IPC Media and has worked in publishing and print for over 30 years.  Before joining IPC, he was Production Director at Condé Nast.  His career has included senior positions at Murdoch Magazines and RR Donnelley. He is currently chairman of the PPA Environmental Committee and the Carbon Footprint Group and was also chairman of the PPA Production & Technology committee for a number of years.

 

Frank Leerkotte

Frank Leerkotte was appointed managing director of Print Power in January 2010. Print Power is the graphic industry value chain wide initiative promoting the use of printed media across Europe. Print Power will be launched in April 2010 in 12 Western European countries. Before Print Power Frank was Managing Director of CEPIFINE, the Confederation of European Fine Paper Industries. He holds an M.Sc. degree in business economics from the University of Amsterdam.

Venue Details

The Marriott Hanbury Manor Hotel & Country Club is our regular venue for the Annual Forum. Hanbury Manor was built in the Jacobean style by Edmund Hanbury in 1890, sparing no expense on a home for his new bride. A further wing was added 60 years later when the house became a convent and boarding school. In 1990 it opened as a 5 star hotel and country club.

Driving Directions

From the M25 at Junction 25 and take the A10 northbound towards Hertford. Remain on the A10 for 12 miles to bypass Ware. The Marriott Hanbury Manor is on the left-hand side, just past the Thundridge town sign.

From the M1 at Junction 8 take the M10 then the A414 to Junction 3 of the A1(M). Go north to junction 4 of the A1(M) and take the A414 through Hertford to join the A10. Turn north (left) onto the A10 to bypass Ware for 2 miles.  The Marriott Hanbury Manor is on the left-hand side, just past the Thundridge town sign.
